Pastor Cornell and Christie Cannon
Pastor Cornell Cannon was born and raised in Waxahachie, TX. He accepted Jesus Christ as his savior at 17 years of age, just before his senior year of high school. Cornell attended Oklahoma State University on a football scholarship, and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Youth and Adult Counseling. His plan was to play in the NFL, but little did he know that God had a different plan for his life. In 1990, he acknowledged Jesus as both Savior and Lord of his life. He met Christie, the love of his life, in 1991 and they were married in 1993. God blessed them with four beautiful daughters who all know the Lord. Cornell has served the Lord since he answered his call to the ministry in 1994.
After serving as pastor of Christ’s Church for 4 1/2 years (1996-2000), Cornell and his family joined New Covenant Fellowship in 2000. For 14 years, Cornell served in various ministry rolls at NCF (short-term missions, evangelism, outreach, worship team, men’s ministry, preaching/teaching). Cornell was chosen to be an elder in 2014. In 2019, he was chosen to serve as the senior pastor at New Covenant Fellowship church.
Cornell is a man who loves God and His Word. He loves the people of God and those who do not yet know God through Christ. He enjoys time with his family, competitive sports, inspirational stories, and encouraging others. He enjoys preaching/teaching the Word of God with conviction and simplicity so that people can consume it, be edified by it, and be fruitful in their life journey with God.
Christie Cannon was born in Tampa, Florida. As a member of an Air Force family, she had the opportunity to live in multiple states as well as Bitburg, Germany. At the age of 10, while living in GA, she accepted the Lord as Savior. However, it was not until she was attending Oklahoma State University that she realized that He wanted to be Lord as well as Savior. Christie serves as Women’s Ministry Leader at New Covenant Fellowship.
